Fire CorpsFire Corps Program came to Omaha Fire Department in January 2007. Â What is Fire Corps? Fire Corps is the component of the Nebraska Citizen Corps that focuses on opportunities for people across the community to make their families, homes, and communities safer from the threats of terrorism, crime, and disasters of all kinds. Â Fire Corps:
The formation of the Omaha Fire Corps creates an opportunity for citizens from the entire community to share resources, strengthen their existing programs and encourage the whole community to become safer and more prepared.  Fire Corps benefits fire/EMS departments as well as the community. It gives citizens a way to give back, and gives your department an important link to the community you serve.  How can citizens help? There are many necessary tasks that can be performed by citizens from the community in the fire and emergency services every day from creating web sites, to maintaining equipment and delivering supplies, to promoting life safety education and providing administrative help, the list is endless, bound only by your imagination.  Fire Corps provides resources to assist fire and rescue departments in creating opportunities for citizen advocates and promotes citizen participation. It is funded through DHS and is managed and implemented through a partnership between the National Volunteer Fire Council, the International Association of Fire Fighters, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs.  The Omaha Fire Department is looking for self-motivated individuals who are interested in bringing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of our citizens to help the entire community and who wish to develop their skills within a volunteer program with flexible hours.  Omaha Fire Department is currently seeking volunteers to join the Fire Corps Program.
