Operation Fire Safe Smoke Detector Installation If you do not have a smoke detector in your home or apartment, and are unable to purchase or unable to install one, the Omaha Fire Department will supply and install the detector in your home.
For installation, please provide your name, address, and phone number by e-mail to the fire station nearest to your home or call the Public Education Bureau at 444-3560.
This program is free of charge and is intended to get a working smoke detector in every home in the city of Omaha. More information on smoke detectors.
Operation Detector Check This program was developed to target senior citizens as well as physically impaired adults who cannot physically check or change the batteries in their smoke detectors. Citizens should first attempt to have a relative or neighbor assist them.
